Friends of yours are having some work done at your company, and half-way
through the job they ask for additional features. They offer you a gift,
if you can throw them in for free. How would you handle the situation?
Tell them that you'll see what you can do, and
approach your supervisor with the request.
Return the gift later on, or give them a gift
in return.
Refuse the gift up front, and explain your reasons
why.
Not the best approach, since company
policy should be followed at every level, and your supervisor is sure
to point that out. Try again.
This
would actually further complicate the situation and not resolve the matter.
Try again.
That's
probably best, since conflicts of interest are often dealt with through
open, fair and up front actions.
