They work in private enterprise, for consulting engineering and technology companies, in all levels of government and as private consultants.<\/p>\n

The Career<\/h3>\n

Technology Professionals enjoy stimulating, rewarding careers which often involve a combination of inside work \u2013 including design and project management \u2013 as well as on-site field work. They are considered to be important members of the \u2018Engineering Team\u2019 comprised of scientists, engineers, technologists, technicians, and tradespersons and are in high demand, even when the economy is slow<\/p>\n

Recognition<\/h3>\n

Technicians and technologists achieve professional recognition through certification and registration by provincial associations for technology professionals. Each association is responsible for ensuring its members follow high professional and ethical standards that protect the public interest.
\nCertification is increasingly valued by employers, including government, as a measure of an individual\u2019s knowledge, capabilities and commitment to high working standards.<\/p>\n

Background<\/h3>\n
